Mountain Loop Mine
In The Heart of the Snohomish County Mining Region
A Rich Tradition of Mining
Mountain Loop Mine is located in the heart of the Snohomish County mining region off the Mountain Loop Highway. It all started on July 4th, 1889 when Joseph L. Persall staked his claim in Snohomish County. To keep with the historical significance of the date, he named the mine Independence of 1776 Mine. Other claims soon followed and a new Northwest mining region was born.

The Mountain Loop Mine Story
In 1990, five acres of forest land was transformed into a small mine named Green Mountain Mine. The purpose was to supply aggregate to the Northern region of Seattle. The mine was eventually renamed Mountain Loop Mine and permitted to expand to 45 acres in 2009. The mine will max out at 92 acres before it’s returned to forest land.

Who We Serve
Mountain Loop Mine aggregate is used in heavy civil construction projects, WSDOT projects, and Sound Transit Link Light Rail projects. Our customers span from Seattle and the Puget Sound Region to Lynnwood, Everett, Bellevue, Marysville, Snohomish, and Arlington.
Environmental Stewardship
The biggest concern with mining operations is the water. We understand this concern and it’s why we conduct daily Washington Dept. of Ecology-led water sampling. In addition, we inspect the material that’s brought onto the site for contamination and conduct weekly voluntary inspections by outside agencies to ensure we’re in compliance at all times.
